Maybe you are not able to take your loved ones to the other side of the world at this point. Fortunately, the world of fairy tales is hiding right here and invites you to discover all its charms...
If you want a fairy-tale holiday, we have prepared a small travel guide for people of all ages to enjoy. Pack your suitcases and let’s go!
For starters, what to visit on your way to the Plitvice Holiday Resort?
Regardless of the fact that it takes only a few hours from any part of Croatia to get to the Resort, it is advisable to fill your trip with additional activities, so don’t miss the fairy-tale Ogulin and the fascinating Nikola Tesla Memorial Center in Smiljan.
The home of fairy tales and the birthplace of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, one of the most famous Croatian writers, will delight children and adults thanks to its rich cultural and historical heritage. Situated at the foot of Klek Mountain and right next to the romantic river Dobra, Ogulin is an ideal backdrop for fairy tales and legends from the past. Visitors of all ages will surely be delighted to see Ivana’s House of Fairy Tales – a unique multimedia and interactive centre dedicated to our favourite childhood stories. It is best to end this trip with some traditional specialties of the Lika region in one of the city restaurants.
How to spend time in the Resort itself?
First of all, your experience will be fulfilling by the accommodation alone, like the one in a tree house or a mobile home. A tree house can accommodate five persons (four adults and one child), and a mobile home can accommodate a family of six (four adults and two children). There are other accommodation options such as lake houses, rooms, apartments, bungalows, Indian tents or camping pitches.
There will be no shortage of entertainment at the Resort itself. We recommend that you definitely try mini golf, enjoy the pool or children’s playground, play badminton, table tennis, and volleyball, or seize the day and work out while using outdoor exercise equipment. In the summer months, you will also be delighted by the open-air cinema. If you are travelling with pets, please note that they are also welcome at our Resort and they will be able to enjoy the dog playground.
When you get tired, look for refreshments in the bar or restaurant where you can try local specialties. If you still want to retreat to your little house and enjoy the rest of the day, don’t worry, you can order a delicious meal and have it delivered to your accommodation unit.
What, besides the Plitvice Lakes National Park, is worth visiting in the area?
There are also the fascinating Caves of Barać where you will discover, together with expert guides, a mysterious underground full of “halls” with flowstones, fossil remains, endemic cave fauna and archaeological findings dating back to the 7th century BC!
You would be surprised if we started enumerating how many attractions, along with the Plitvice Lakes National Park, are located in the vicinity of the Plitvice Holiday Resort! But you should definitely not miss spending time with deer at the Ranch Deer Valley, only 5 km away from the Resort.
